2025 Road to the Bird's Nest Series: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Leg 2 Concludes with Spectacular Performances

The second leg of the 2025 Road to the Bird's Nest Series in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region successfully concluded from May 1-3 at Sanhe Junlong Equestrian Club, marking an exciting chapter in China's equestrian calendar during the Labor Day holiday weekend. This crucial qualifying event brought together rising stars and seasoned competitors, all vying for points to secure their spot in the prestigious 12th Longines Beijing Masters.
A Holiday Weekend of Equestrian Excellence
The three-day competition transformed the Labor Day holiday into a celebration of horsemanship, with riders progressing through carefully designed courses from 60CM to 130CM. The tiered competition structure allowed participants to build confidence through lower jumps before tackling more challenging heights, embodying the event's philosophy of supporting "every centimeter of growth" in rider development.
Competitive Highlights and Innovations
With a generous ¥310,000 prize pool rewarding the top 16 riders in each category (extended to top 20 for divisions exceeding 100 entries), the stakes were particularly high in this penultimate regional qualifier. The event introduced several innovative features:

  • Enhanced team competition prizes without increased entry fees
  • Streamlined registration through the smart Equine China platform
  • Flexible scheduling accommodating holiday travel logistics

Rider Development Takes Center Stage
The competition saw particularly strong participation in the 60CM and 90CM divisions, which continue to serve as crucial development platforms for junior riders and amateur enthusiasts. These entry-level categories, restricted from participation by top-level competitors, ensure meaningful competitive opportunities for emerging talent - a key factor in China's growing equestrian ecosystem.
Looking Ahead to the Bird's Nest

As riders depart Sanhe Junlong, attention turns to the final regional qualifiers and ultimately the 12th Longines Beijing Masters this October. The series' unique Repechage (wildcard) system ensures that even those who narrowly miss qualification in regular events will have another chance to earn their place at China's most prestigious equestrian showcase.

The Bigger Picture
This event represents more than just competition - it's part of China's systematic approach to developing world-class equestrian talent. By providing structured progression from local competitions to international-level events at the Bird's Nest, the Road to the Bird's Nest series is helping build the depth of talent needed for China to compete globally in show jumping.
With each passing year, the technical level of competitors continues to rise, promising an increasingly competitive field at the October finals. As Chinese riders gain more experience through these carefully structured qualifying events, the future looks bright for the nation's equestrian ambitions on the world stage.
